My first item of Hobbit movie merchandise - a 60+ page annual for kids with puzzles and games.
Interesting if only for a closer look at some photos and a few little snippets of information about the film-versions of the characters - e.g. “Unable to talk, Bifur grunts and uses hand signals to communicate.”
Interesting too is the fact that the book is published ‘with the permission, but not the approval’ of Tolkien’s Estate.
A spectacular cover image of Bilbo stepping out of his hobbit hole which brings to mind Gandalf’s famous quote from The Lord of the Rings - “It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.”
